The greatest fine art of the future will be the making of a modest living from a small piece of land: Abraham Lincoln
The Bho Sìol Story
Bho Shiol (Scottish Gaelic meaning ‘from seed’) was founded to design beautiful, wearable fabrics inspired by authentic botanical sources. We are interested in creating items of enduring quality that have design provenance and cultural value.
Carefully selected fabrics, including natural silks and cotton, are chosen to allow each design and its wearer to look and feel their best.

BA HONS Fine Art (FIRST CLASS), DELTA, MADA, PGDE and importantly 'Garden Enthusiast'.
I worked in Greece and South East Asia for 14 years. When the time came to come home to beautiful Scotland, I missed the light, colours, scale, and forms that were distinct features of the equatorial landscape. I found myself getting pulled into the varied and wonderful world of British gardens and learning about plants in an attempt to bring a little bit of jungle to my home in Scotland.
Ten years on and I have bought a small cottage on Historic Scotland land. The cottage came with a classic long cottage garden plot measuring 6 metres by 100 metres. It needed, and still does, a lot of work, but the project and problem-solving is a joy.
From all my plants I have been given a natural canvas to create, design from and share.
Bho Shiol is therefore the natural expression of all the fabulous moments and photographs taken in an evolving and very, very long garden.
